The NEWway night shelter is open from the start of October 2019 until the end of March 2020.
Our shelter has limited spaces available, so unfortunately we cannot offer a ‘drop-in’ service and we can only ever offer shelter to the guests who have been referred to us by our specialist partner agencies. If you know someone in need of shelter during the winter months, please signpost them to our sister charity NEWday or Thames Reach, Crisis Skylight, Whitechapel Mission, and Bridges. Their professional support workers will be able to do a needs assessment and then, if possible, make a referral to our night shelter service.
Streetlink is a year round government funded outreach support service for rough sleepers. If you are sleeping on the street or are concerned about someone who is, you can contact 0300 500 0914 to let them know the exact location of the person and they will send out an outreach team within 3 days of the request. Their team will then help refer them into emergency accommodation.
We also recommend for local people facing homelessness to go to the Newham Housing Options Service in the East Ham Town Hall Annexe as the first port of call.
NEWday Services. All homeless adults in Newham are welcome to come and meet with our team and access day time support services at the NEWday Centre. There are many other local charities who also offer free day time support services including showers and meals.
